Brittany | Senior

You know those girls who are good at everything? They're smart, funny, athletic, and drop dead gorgeous on top of all that? Brittany is one of those girls. If I were in high school I would be tempted to not like her because she's just so darn amazing, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to not like Brittany. I dare you to try it. It's impossible! Most importantly though, is Brittany's heart. This girl has a love for the Lord and other people that far outshines her other amazing qualities.

We had an incredibly fun session filled with a few laughter-inducing mishaps along the way! Brittany's truck got stuck in a ditch while we were driving into the field where she wanted to take pictures. So naturally, I got out and helped push. Apparently pregnant women aren't supposed to do that. And apparently 25 isn't too old to get in trouble with your mom for pushing trucks out of ditches while pregnant : )

I'd say it was worth it to get these shots though!

Fierce fierce fierce!

And she's amazing at track. There's nothing this girl can't do!

Brittany, you are truly an inspiring person and it has been an honor to get to know you! I know the Lord has big plans for you life and I can't wait to see how your story unfolds! Thank you for letting me be a part of it all!

Luellen | Family

When Heather first contacted me about taking their family pictures, she asked me to focus primarily on their son, Jake. Jake is the same age as my oldest nephew and the thought of that terrified me. There is no way on Earth my nephew would get in front of the camera, much less pose, much less smile. I honestly thought Heather was asking the impossible and went into the session very anxious.

Let me just tell you...Jake is a ROCK STAR. He blew me away with his willingness to be in front of the camera and trust the crazy things I was asking him to do. Maybe my nephew's refusal to let me take a picture of him stems from the fact that I still try to rock him like a baby and reminisce about stories of when he loved Blue's Clues. Jake, be glad I didn't do this to you : )

Tom and Heather have the BEST story of how they met! Heather is an amazing pianist and played for Tom's choral group in college. Each time before rehearsal, the singers would warm up by giving each other back massages. Tom, being the perceptive man that he is, noticed a cute girl at the piano and wondered why no one ever included her in the back rub tradition. He took it upon himself to be the first. The guy has moves (and apparently a great back rub)!

These two radiate love for each other. I bet that they are even more in love now than they were back in college!

Thank you all so much for letting me spend time with your family! It was such an honor to hear your stories and laughter!

Gender Reveal! | Personal

We are THRILLED to announce that we are having a baby GIRL! Nora Lynn Foster (unless I go crazy and change my mind before September) was already being stubborn during her ultrasound and it took a while to get the "money" shot, but eventually she cooperated and we couldn't be happier!

Tenure Celebration | Personal

Today shoved in the back of a drawer I found my journal from high school. So. Embarrassing. I have to laugh at some of the things I wrote or else I would cry. It makes me truly thankful that God "...who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Because whew, I needed a lot of work (and still do)!

On July 11, 2002 I was writing about one of the many guys that captured my interest during my teenage years and I wrote, "I always wonder who I'm going to marry. I just can't wait to have that bond with a man. Just to know that they really do love me and will always be there for me and I can completely be myself around them."

Little did Mike know that as he was teaching at the University of Miami (after having graduated with a bachelor's degree, a master's, and recently left a very successful job as an architectural lighting designer in New York) that there was a very dramatic high school girl in the Midwest dreaming of him. He was laying the foundation of our future life together while I was still saying things like, "That guy is hecka hot!"

I am beyond grateful that he is such a hard worker. That he is dedicated. That he outshines any dreamy expectation I had of a husband when I was a teenager.

Recently Mike earned tenure! This is an incredibly big deal (or as high school Laura would say, "a hecka big deal")! He has been working toward this goal for years and I could not be more proud of him!

To celebrate, I attempted to plan a surprise date. My sweet friend Rowena was going to come over to watch Liam and when she showed up, I would explain the big surprise date. Things. Did. Not. Go. As. Planned. Mike will tell you a very different (and embellished) version of the story, but even though things didn't pan out the way I envisioned, we had a wonderful time!

Mike, I know I've said this before, but thank you for being more than I ever thought possible. I am SO proud of you...not just for your accomplishments, but for the man that you are. Thank you for really loving me, and always being there for me (and Liam, and Baby #2), and allowing me to truly be myself around you...even though at times that involves lots of drama. I love you!

Milo | 7 Months

Ok, this is super embarrassing. I'm just now blogging the ever-so-handsome Milo's 7 month session...and his first birthday is just a matter of days away. Maybe I needed to add "be a more timely blogger" to my resolutions list. Oh, who am I kidding...I've kept up with very few of those things too!

Enough excuses, and on to the cuteness!

When I photographed Stacy's maternity session, these shoes were displayed on the dresser, just waiting for the day when Milo's perfect little feet would fill them. It reminded me how precious every little detail is and how incredibly fulfilling it is seeing things come full circle with my clients!

I'm pretty sure he's giving me this face because he knew I would be a slacker on blogging his session. Milo, I promise to blog your birthday party before you leave for college!

Check back soon to see Milo's first birthday (and by soon, I mean in like a year...I kid, I kid)!

Mulrenin | Family

If I could give out awards to each of my clients, the Mulrenin family would definitely win "most easy-going". Their session felt like a bunch of us just hanging out, except I'd ask them to stand in a certain place and look at the camera! They made my job SO easy!

Their session happened to take place during the World Series. I like to call this picture "A Family Divided"!

We decided to take some "win/lose" pictures of Randall. So. Funny.

Needless to say, he never got to use the "win" picture! Maybe next year...

You all are one amazing family! It was such an honor to document your love and joy!

Katherine & Brandon | Engagement

Theirs is the kind of love that is solid, developing out of a true friendship. Katherine and Brandon met one summer while they were working as tour guides for a popular St. Louis attraction. They told me stories of how in between tours they would have lots of time to pass, so Katherine would dare Brandon to choose a different accent for each tour group. Sometimes he'd be British, sometimes Southern. It was this fun-loving friendship that helped them to see each other in such a way that turned into romance.

They are getting married in Mexico (I'm still trying to figure out how to stuff myself into a suitcase!) but I am honored to be their photographer for a reception in St. Louis to share in their love with family and friends! And from the looks of Katherine's pins on Pinterest, the reception will be nothing short of fabulous!

Katherine...rawr! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

In our e-mails as we narrowed down possible locations for the shoot, I told Katherine she and Brandon would still look fabulous even if they were standing next to a trash dump! As we were walking around during their session, we came across a dumpster and a toilet. It was sheer photographic fate! If this next picture doesn't tell you how hysterically amazing this couple is, nothing will!

Katherine and Brandon, thank you so much for allowing me to document your love! I can't wait until the next time I take your picture...as a married couple!!!
