Mulrenin | Family

If I could give out awards to each of my clients, the Mulrenin family would definitely win "most easy-going". Their session felt like a bunch of us just hanging out, except I'd ask them to stand in a certain place and look at the camera! They made my job SO easy!

Their session happened to take place during the World Series. I like to call this picture "A Family Divided"!

We decided to take some "win/lose" pictures of Randall. So. Funny.

Needless to say, he never got to use the "win" picture! Maybe next year...

You all are one amazing family! It was such an honor to document your love and joy!

Katherine & Brandon | Engagement

Theirs is the kind of love that is solid, developing out of a true friendship. Katherine and Brandon met one summer while they were working as tour guides for a popular St. Louis attraction. They told me stories of how in between tours they would have lots of time to pass, so Katherine would dare Brandon to choose a different accent for each tour group. Sometimes he'd be British, sometimes Southern. It was this fun-loving friendship that helped them to see each other in such a way that turned into romance.

They are getting married in Mexico (I'm still trying to figure out how to stuff myself into a suitcase!) but I am honored to be their photographer for a reception in St. Louis to share in their love with family and friends! And from the looks of Katherine's pins on Pinterest, the reception will be nothing short of fabulous!

Katherine...rawr! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

In our e-mails as we narrowed down possible locations for the shoot, I told Katherine she and Brandon would still look fabulous even if they were standing next to a trash dump! As we were walking around during their session, we came across a dumpster and a toilet. It was sheer photographic fate! If this next picture doesn't tell you how hysterically amazing this couple is, nothing will!

Katherine and Brandon, thank you so much for allowing me to document your love! I can't wait until the next time I take your picture...as a married couple!!!

Kovach | Family

I was tempted to Photoshop myself into one of the Kovach family pictures because honestly, I feel like they have adopted me. Crystal and I joke that I'm her younger "sister". But really, this entire family is so loving, sacrificial, and filled with fun that anyone would want to be a part of their family tree!

One day Crystal told me that Phillip was hired to compose a song. Just like that. He COMPOSED a SONG! Like it was no big deal! I'm still blown away by all of his talents! Phillip is currently in his freshman year at Evangel University, so the family had to show their EU pride with their outfits!

Stephen has got to be the coolest junior higher I know. Hands down. He's part of our Realife life group and has such a servant's heart. I am going to be so bummed when he graduates to a high school life group!

Ok, confession time. Mike has some seriously high hopes that Liam and Hope will someday get married. Every time we see Hope Mike says, "How cool would it be if Hope and Liam got married?!" I can't blame him for wanting Hope as a daughter-in-law someday...she is bubbly, full of laughter and sass, and completely stunning on the inside and out!

Kovach family, it is truly an honor to know all of you! Thank you for the love and support that you give us! I don't know where we'd be without you!

The Resolutions | Personal

I suck at finishing things. You will be hard pressed to find a more enthusiastic starter than me, but I have failed time and time again at following through. It's for this reason that a guitar sits barely touched in my closet. For this reason I only finished week one of the Couch to 5k running plan. For this reason my best friend still hasn't received the wedding scrapbook I started for her...they got married in July. Of 2010.

It was exactly a year ago today when I started this blog. It blows my mind the support I've been given. That despite my pattern of being a great starter but a not so great "follow through-er" Mike stood behind me 100% without a doubt in his mind that I could accomplish what I set out to do. Every day I am beyond grateful that many of you took a chance and allowed me to document your families and create unforgettable memories with you. It humbles me to my core that the God of the universe chose to plant this dream in my heart.

You all are awesome. Seriously.

In an effort to break this chain of terrible follow through, I've decided to make myself a little vulnerable with my goals for 2012 even though I'm scared. Ok, terrified. Accountability is a strong motivator, so I'm going to force myself to keep typing out these goals even though it's hard.

*Read the entire Bible. God's word is good stuff!
*Set money aside to take Mike on a vacation. Disney is calling our names!
*Become B.F.F. with water (I'm sipping on some right now)
*Break up with the idol of food. I know this sounds crazy, but for me personally, this is an area of struggle. I want to approach food in a healthy way and give more thought to my choices.
*Be intentional about sharing God's love.
*Schedule three sessions each month.
*Take a picture of Liam every day (or else I may miss super cute moments like this...)

Phew. I did it. If you're a person that's motivated by accountability, I encourage you to share some of your goals for the new year, no matter how tough it may be!

Happy New Year dear friends! May this year be filled with laughter, learning, and grace upon grace! And please, feel free to ask me what passage I read in the Bible that day or how much water I've drank : )
